Zara Mader is a Cardiff based photographer.

Previous exhibitions available on this website include a series of portraits of women inspired by the music of punk icon Poly Styrene which led to a feature on BBC Radio Cymru's Rhys Mwyn's programme.  And an illustrated talk at the Women in Music event at Clwb Ifor Bach.

"The Punk and Goth music scene can seem very white but as a non white fan, I wanted to represent that in a series of portraits of Brown and Black punk and goth fans. This is an on-going project and I am looking for more people to take part, Please contact the gallery".

In 2019 her work formed part of the Diffusion International Photography Festival exhibited at the Wales Millennium Centre.

In 2020 she contributed four portraits of under represented women working in the arts in Wales to a Phrame Collective group exhibition at the Senedd, Welsh Parliament building in Cardiff Bay.

In 2022 she was awarded a Freelands Fellowship with g39 in Cardiff. This has allowed her to focus on her street photography - which is a very important part of her practice.
